Your Personal Mentor

Hi, I am Sherjan, a former Vice President of Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley. But, who I really am is someone who is passionate about helping others achieve greater heights than I could ever dream of.

WHO AM I?

I am someone just like you. I was born in Pakistan, immigrated to Canada in 2000, was kind of a nerd in high school, and ended up studying Aerospace Engineering in university. I sucked at it. It wasn’t my passion, but there I was with my stellar 3.0 GPA. But, I had this infatuation to become an Investment Banker.

WHAT HAPPENED THEN?

After taking multiple detours, unpaid internships, and thousands of cold-emails and calls, I got in. I got my dream job of working at Morgan Stanley’s Investment Banking team in Menlo Park, California.

HELPING OTHERS DO THE SAME

When I had achieved my own goals, I wanted to help others who had the same dreams but may not have had the same resources. The best way I knew how was to spread my learnings through my courses and workshops at universities around the world. It was 2010 and teaching became a part of my life ever since.

WHAT ELSE DID YOU DO IN YOUR CAREER?

After my first stint in Investment Banking in California, I joined Google’s late-stage investment arm CapitalG and helped invest in startups. After a couple of years there, I moved back to Morgan Stanley as an Associate, then later got promoted to Vice President covering the Private Equity sector.

CONTINUING MY TRUE PASSION

After Investment Banking, I’ve continued my true passion of motivating the next generation and helping them achieve greater things in their lives. I don’t live in a particular city, I don’t have a regular job, and I don’t believe in ever stopping. Life is beautiful and I wake up happy. That’s all there is to it.
